Preserving Srila Prabhupada’s Legacy and Memorabilia
We had the good fortune to serve Srila Prabhupada’s mission in the early days of ISKCON Toronto and Chicago. Through our personal association with Srila Prabhupada in Vrindavan, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit and other locations, we have a collection of pictures and slides of some of the early days in ISKCON. The collection includes vintage video and memorabilia including Srila Prabhupada’s shoes, blankets, sheets, pillows, japa beads and other items. We have also saved furniture from Srila Prabhupada’s visits to our home including sofas, tables, lamps, and the fan which is “behind” a humorous story and interaction with Srila Prabhupada. The memorabilia also includes a table which Srila Prabhupada used for his writings. The collection also includes some of the legacy behind ISKCON Toronto’s current location on Avenue Road as well as the acquisition and grand opening of ISKCON Chicago at its current location on Lunt Ave. Srila Prabhupada’s disciples who were active in the early development of ISKCON should be encouraged to preserve these collections to do their part in preserving Srila Prabhupada’s glorious legacy.
